Beach Reach

Getting our youth home safely

Youth crime is becoming an ever increasing problem in our community. Over the past year we have seen dramatic increases in assaults, drug offences, robbery, stalking and harassment by young people in the Northern Beaches.

"Youth crime is a concern, and we need the communities help as we respond to this ongoing challenge”

Patrick Sharkey

Northern Beaches area Commander Superintendent

"Crime is a cycle that drags in more of our youth each day, it’s time we break it"

James Griffin MP

Member for Manly NSW

“The issues are not imported, they’re locals or predominantly locals”

Rob Stokes MP

Member for Pittwater NSW

"We have a community problem that requires a community response"

Lisa Graham

Chief Executive Officer, Taldumande Youth Services

What is Beach Reach?

Beach Reach is an exciting and innovative partnership between Taldumande Youth Services and the NSW Police Force on the Northern Beaches which began in 2019.

Beach Reach is a night mobile outreach service provided by Taldumande servicing the Northern Beaches.

Experienced Taldumande staff are called upon to attend with local police during busy times where there may be an increased presence of young people in specific areas.

Our role is to positively engage with young people and free up valuable police resources.

Aims of Beach Reach

Assist in reducing anti-social behaviours in the community through assertive engagement

Strengthen relationships between youth, Police, and the local community

Keep young people safe by supporting them to make better life decisions

We need more funding

To enable us to continue our work on the beaches with our youth we require more funding. We are currently funded for Saturday nights, 7:00pm - 1:00am only.

Help us make Beach Reach a continuing project, Friday and Saturday nights and school holidays year-round by clicking the donate link below.

Help us continue our vital work with children, young people and their families!

Many of our programs fall outside government funding, which means we rely on money raised from individuals and organisations to continue our vital work.
